Avishag Shaar-Yashuv, 28, is an Israeli photojournalist and documentary photographer.
She has been active in her field for the past 8 years now.
Avishag's images appear daily in a variety of leading, Israeli and international print and online media outlets. Additionally, her works are showcased regularly in various galleries and exhibitions. Just last year, Avishag won the News Category at the 'Local Testimony' press exhibition – Israeli photojournalism's official exhibition that is on display alongside the international World Press exhibition.
Over the last 6 years, Avishag has been documenting various ecological communities and fellowships currently active across Israel. Initially, the project's focus was on numerous, different communities and earned the attention of some of Europe's top magazines who had bought the rights to feature the project in their publications. The project was also showcased in a number of Israeli exhibitions.
In the last 4 year however, Avishag chose to set her sights solely on one family out of the sum total of families she had initially come into contact with, during filming of the preliminary project. In making this move, Avishag opted to focus on the many changes the family underwent; from an alternative, van-based unit to a family choosing to put down roots in a community; raising issues relating to child-rearing and development, and also exploring the family's overall assimilation into the greater eco-fellowship.
